Assistant Director, Mentoring and Education

Future Link looks to fill a new position for an Assistant Director, Mentoring and Education. We seek a critical thinker with experience in volunteer engagement to take a leadership role in managing a talented cadre of dedicated volunteer professionals. The right individual will understand the rewards of contributing to a high-impact organization focused on student success.
The Assistant Director serves as an integral member of the Future Link team with the following responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Management
Mentor Program

- Manage a cohort of Mentors (volunteer professionals) through full cycle of activity: recruiting, screening, training, matching, and maintaining Mentor/Mentee relationships.
- Guide Mentors towards relevant programs, services, and resources to best support their Mentee (Future Link student).
- Organize and lead Mentor training sessions, Mentor idea exchanges, and other community building programs to assist Mentors.
- Coordinate and interface with staff, Mentors, and students regarding mentorships.
Career Exploration

- Direct and implement Career Exploration, a growing service that is part of Future Link’s three-track Career Coaching Program. This includes interviewing and training volunteers, evaluating student needs, connecting students with volunteers, and supporting volunteer/student pairs as they proceed through the Career Exploration process.
2. Community Engagement

- Research, evaluate, and attend community events to represent Future Link.
- Build relationships with volunteers to evaluate further engagement opportunities.
- Assist in the coordination and planning of organizational programs.
3. Other duties as assigned to support organizational growth and student success.
Requirements:
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: A strong collaborator, prepared to help advance the Mentoring and Career Exploration services to the next level. Requires an experienced critical thinker with strong public speaking abilities. Seeking an organized, detail-oriented person with excellent written and interpersonal skills. Must be solution-oriented and confident to address both Mentor challenges and student obstacles. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment is essential. A good sense of humor and a positive attitude is vital for success in this position.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. At least ten years of program management experience, demonstrating increased responsibility including prior roles managing volunteers. Must have a car, valid driver’s license, and live in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, with preference given to candidates who reside in Montgomery County, MD.
